My name is Garrett Martindale! I’m a 27 year old father, husband, and bow hunter. However, my profession as an owner/operator of a small log trucking company supports my family and my bow hunting addiction. I have lived in a small coastal town in Oregon hunting Roosevelt elk and Blacktail deer my entire life. As a young bow hunter, my obsession continues to grow and my longing to reach unseen country pushes me to hunt multiple states. Finding a love for physical fitness has pushed me to be my best self on the mountain. I love the unknown, I love the struggle, I love all that is BOWHUNTING.
Hunting with KuduPoint
I put in for an Oregon archery Antelope hunt with the expectation of not drawing a tag. After the results were posted, to my surprise I had been selected. September was here and it was time to see if I could find success. Leaving home at 2:00 am I made it to my unit late in the morning. Within hours of the hunt I had glassed up a small group of Antelope and watched them feed off. Slowly hiking to a watering hole I glassed up a few more Antelope at a couple hundred yards and after five hours I finally was within 73 yards of the buck. I drew my bow back, controlling every breath. The release of that arrow was perfect and the Kudupoint found its mark, mercifully putting that Antelope down within 15 yards of where I had shot him.
