Jaxon Sterling

My name is Jaxson Sterling, I am 19 years old. I was born and raised exploring the high country of Montana. I enjoy everything in the mountains from shed hunting to September elk and high country mule deer. I’ve had a bow in my hand for as long as I can remember. I love the dedication and hard work it takes to pursue animals with a bow. My passion for hunting and archery came at a young age, following in my fathers footsteps. During the offseason I’m finding antlers and enjoying God’s country. When I am not in the mountains doing what I love, I work as a commercial paleontologist finding fossils. The early mornings of September chasing elk is my favorite time of year, followed by the cold days glassing for high country mule deer. I’ve been blessed to grow up in a place like Montana, that allows me to pursue my passion!

Hunting with KuduPoint
It was the 2023 Montana elk season, I hoped on harvesting my first bull with a bow. It was September 6th, a couple days into the season. Went out on a morning hunt and instantly heard a bugle a ways up the ridge. We got up closer to locate the bull again, there was no response. Late morning rolled around and there was still no bull. Suddenly around noon a bull came in silent, but hesitated on the tree line. After my dad gave a quiet bugle, the bull fully committed down an old logging road coming into 5 yards slightly quarted towards me. I placed the perfect shot with my Kudupoint and watched him tip over not even 80 yards away.

Preferred broadhead: Contour Plus 100gn (right bevel)
