I am from Michigan and have been hunting deer and turkey for over 40 years around Michigan. About 10 years ago I started hunting mule deer, elk, and pronghorn in some western states giving me a whole new outlook on bowhunting. My career has been in public safety, having worked full-time in EMS as a paramedic and a paid on-call firefighter for over 30 years now. I currently work as an EMS Education Coordinator for our state EMS office along with being the rescue captain for my local fire department. Keeping my firefighter brotherhood close, a small group of us hunt and shoot together always having a great time with plenty of laughs and stories told repeatedly. Archery is a year-round sport for me, if it’s not hunting season, it’s hunting prep season and shooting. We shoot local 3-D courses, and we are lucky enough to have 2 TAC events close by that I shoot. I am married with a grown daughter, 2 dogs and live in a small farming community in West Michigan. We do some side-by-side trail riding and some fishing, but archery has always been my passion.
Hunting with KuduPoint
I have several great memories, but my real favorite is from a few years ago here in Michigan. Shooting the 150 grain right bevels had a very nice buck for my area come in during the first week of November. Wide 8 point came looking for a doe, stopped broadside at 25 yards just across a ditch from me, pass through double lung shot! He did the big hop, ran across the ditch and stopped at 40 yards trying to figure out what just happened. I nocked another arrow and settled just behind the shoulder and sent a second arrow through the heart, hit the offside shoulder bone and passed through again. He didn’t go another 40 yards. A very close second is this years target buck, 22 yards though both shoulders and the heart after calling him in on November 1st, another buck down in sight under 80 yards.
